OK, so I just got the Chikara stuff yesterday and today my son, Jacob, and I play-tested them for the first time today. He booked the following card and he and I played it out. Just a small bite sized one, but they will get bigger, lol. So w/o further ado....
CHIKARA!!!!!! Card #1, booked by Jacob Rickert, 11 years old
#1: Green Ant v Icarus
This match was a showcase of the offensive skills of Icarus and the never-say-die attitude of Green Ant. Green Ant survived an incredible onslaught including 3 Wings of Icarus, 1 Blu-Ray and a skull splitting chair assault on the floor. A 2nd Blu-Ray by Icarus finally put the Ant's shoulder's down for a 3-count.
After the match, Chuck Taylor came running down to ringside and assisted Icarus in a nasty double team beatdown. Three kneedrops from the top rope by Icarus left Green Ant twitching in the ring. As teh other members of the Colony arrived to make the save, the two F.I.S.T. members beat a hasty retreat. Preliminary results are saying Green Ant will miss at least 2 cards with a bruised sternum.
#2: Delirious v UltraMantis Black
Now that Delirious' "Light side" is coming back to the surface, at times, Ultra finds himself in the unenviable position of managing the wild man one night and fighting him tonight.
This was a great back and forth match with tons of hold and counter-hold by 2 men who know each other well. In the end it seemed that Delirious' tenuous hold on his sanity may have cost him as they went out of the ring and Delirious refused to use his more hardcore tactics, allowing Black to post him twice. A groggy Delirious fell prey to the Cosmic Disaster, giving UltraMantis Black the first big victory in this war.
#3: Special Attraction Match: Bryan Danielson v El Generico
Two men with strong ties to Chikara came to town to help kick-start the Virginia branch of Chikara. The fans were hoping for a blockbuster of a match, and they were not disappointed.
Very intense early back and forth action brought the capacity crowd to their feet. A strong series of reversals left Generico in firm control, even leading to a near fall following the BRAINBUSTAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But Danielson was not to be denied and just kept coming back. Generichos strong defense helped him to keep finding an answer to Danielson's offense. Generico, however seemed to have a running disagreement with the turnbuckle which the turnbuckle kept winning. On 3 occasions, Generico blew a turnbuckle spot only to find himself locked into the crossface chicken wing. After the 3rd escape, Generico decided to head for the floor, which proved equally ineffective, as Danielson introduced him to the steel post on 2 occasions. After the exchanges on the floor, Generico quickly fell prey to a second Cattle Mutilation and had to tap.
#4: Battle for the claim to "strongest man in the business": Brodie Lee v Tursas
These 2 behemoths came to the ring with a lot to prove and the bad attitudes to prove it with. The 20 X 20 ring proved far too small to contain this clash of the Titans as more of the match was fought on the arena floor than inside the confines of the squared circle. Both men proved their toughness, keeping the other off guard with hard-hitting maneuvers and questionable tactics. The referee (wisely) opted to allow these brutes to maul each other w/o getting too involved. After their 5th or 6th trip to the arena floor, Brodie Lee found his groove and took the victory with back to back Big Boots.
After the match, an irate Tursas demanded a rematch on the next show. The Big Rig was only too happy to agree, as officials and other wrestlers came down to insure the 2 big men saved it for next time.
Thanx for taking the time to read, look for the next installment of Chikara coming soon!!
